All India Consumer Price Index (IW) is based on weighted average of prices of consumer goods and services which calculates on average for the specified months of March, April and May 2014 issued by the Department of Labour Bureau by taking price changes for each item in the predetermined basket of goods.
Now, as per All India Consumer Price Index Numbers for Industrial
Workers - CPI(IW) issued by Department of Labour Bureau, CPI has been
increased to 239 for the month of March 2014 and also recorded an
increase of 3 points in CPI Index for April 2014 and stood at 242, with a
total increase of 4 points which is to be taken for July 2014(01-07-2014) Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA) rates.
Based on this average of Consumer Price Index Numbers for Industrial Workers-CPI(IW), Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA) rates of BSNL Employees to be increased by 2.4% which raises to 90.8% from 1st July 2014 from existing BSNL IDA rates.
If there is an increase in points of CPI index for the month of May 2014, then the IDA rates from July 2014 will be increased more, otherwise the IDA rates of BSNL employees from July 2014 will be increased by around 2.4% from present Industrial DA (IDA) rates.
The increased IDA rates @ 2.4% from July 2014 has been confirmed after getting average price index number of May 2014, then after Department of Public Enterprises will issue the orders for increased IDA rates from 01.07.2014, and have a look for old Industrial Dearness Allowance(IDA)
