New Minister of State for Communications
The 57 year old Manoj Sinha was the Minster of State for Railways, before taking over as the MoS of Telecom. An MP of the Ghazipur constituency in Uttar Pradesh, Manoj Sinha was earlier elected as MP in 1996 and 1999 also. He did his civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi and his M. Tech in civil engineering from the same institute. SNATTA heartily welcomes the new MoS.

07.07.2016 shall be the holiday on account of Id-ul-Fitr.
Earlier, BSNL has declared holiday on 06.07.2016, on account of Id-ul-Fitr. However, based on the letter of the DoP&T, BSNL has today declared that 07.07.2016 shall be the holiday on account of Id-ul-Fitr
As per decision of teleconference meeting of CEC/snattawb on 27-06-2016, it is decided to prepare two name for LJCM very soon, note as we have alliance with BSNLEU, they should have membership from BSNLEU. And also note that , the membership is to be taken within 15-07-2016. As such all DSs are requested to take necessary action please.
Also note that any member may take membership from BSNLEU if necessary. It is allowable as per rituals. Snattawb also urged to every DSs to collect the monthly subscription in regular manner.

BSNL records highest addition in wireless subscriber base during April, says TRAI.
According to the latest data
released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the total
subscriber base in the country increased from 1,033 million as of March 2016 to
1,034 million as of April 2016 while the number of urban subscribers declined
form 606.69 million to 607.21 million during the period, total rural
subscribers increased from 449.17 million to 452.08 million.
Notably, state-run operator
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) recorded the highest addition in the number
of wireless users during April 2016 at 1.1 million BSNL was followed by Airtel
and Aircel which added 978.230 and 572,869 wireless users, respectively.
However, private players continued to hold the majority portion of the wireless
market with a share of 91.2 per cent.
Meanwhile, the number of
broadband subscribers increased from 149.75 million as of March 2016 to 151.09
million as of April 2016

3rd PRC formed
The government has formed the 3rd Pay Revision Committee (PRC) for the revision of pay
scales, perquisites, etc., of the Board Level and Below Board level officers
and Non-Unionised supervisors. Justice Satish Chandra (Retd.) is the Chairman. The PRC will
submit it's report within
6 months and the wage revision will be implemented from 01.01.2017.

09.06.2016:Most telcos fail Trai’s call-drop test in Hyderabad
The telecom regulator has found most telecom operators—barring Vodafone
India and Telenor India in 2G networks and BSNL in 3G networks—failing
to meet the benchmark for dropped calls in Hyderabad.
